This comic reminds me of all the families that I saw in retail. It was company policy to tell any customer's child standing in a cart to sit down and be careful. Some complied, But others when you did the mothers would throw a shitstorm. I watched people run their own children over with their carts just to prove to me that they could, and that I was wrong to tell their children to sit down while riding in a moving cart “It’s my child and none of your business!”. Hurting their child was in their mind how they regained their power as an authority figure...and all I did was tell the child to please sit. They would hurt their own children just to shame me. Thats when I realized going to work wasn't about helping customers for me, it was fighting them. Fighthing them on things I had no control over, but was expected to just because I worked there. The worst part about the whole thing is that it wasn't even that big a deal...

It sounds cliche and many people think its a joke but its moments like these that remind me how retail CAN honestly kill your soul.
